- I live 4 music and began to realize this in the back of my parents’ station wagon memorizing pop, folk, and classic rock songs on the radio and wishing I had written them. Then there were nights when my parents would warm up in our family room before a night out discoing or hustling.
Dance music had me enthralled. Then more pop, folk, jazz, new wave..I loved it all. It wasn’t the genre..it was the songs! Then metal, alt-rock, neo-soul, trip-hop, hip-hop. Still not the genre, the songs had me bitten and smitten! Forever transfixed on songs, and the way in which they are performed, the emotion-potion, the energy force, the cadence, phrasing, the way in which words are chosen and delivered, the bass line, that guitar riff, the background hum, the kick drum, the groove. It’s totally tangible and totally not!
I started writing songs in college, scribbling inner thoughts on the back of matchbooks & magazines. Very shy about exploiting my music at first (nobody believes me) Still shy sometimes now..(Still, nobody believes me). But, always ecstatic to be making music my way and recording and performing it for people who still live for a good song sung by a human with a beating heart.
I am sorta into genre-bending and blending. I make music as I feel it, and relish the opportunity to collaborate with other artists, musicians, singers and producers who can bring their perspective to my vision. I adore sharing my songs with others and continue to be mystified by the intoxicating process of making music!
