Focus on Guitar
Reviewer: Jim Dalrymple/Gibson.com - February 2009There’s quite literally an endless amount of music genres these days, but none focuses more on the talent and melodic power of a guitar than guitarcore. A new term coined by California instrumental guitarist Bill Lonero (whose band LoNero — same name, different spelling — champions the genre), guitarcore brings a focus on the guitar that is different from traditional instrumental guitar. With two CDs already on the market, LoNero’s guitar-focused music is catching on with fans and drawing attention from industry watchers. While Lonero is humble about his abilities, he’s undoubtedly one of the best “feeling” guitarists I’ve heard in quite some time.
So Damn Good
Reviewer: Michael Molenda/Guitar Player Magazine - October 2007Guitarist Bill Lonero and crew have gear endorsements out the wazoo, promotional help from Apple Computer, two-million MySpace plays, and they claim to have invented "instrumental guitarcore," so you should really hate them. But you can't, because they're just so damn good.
Enter a World of Musical Harmony
Reviewer: Your Music Magazine - June 2008“When did all of these instrumental rock bands become mainstream local acts? I know the genre has existed for decades (in a rock band format) but primarily in the studio, no so much on the live stage. If you’ve read my CD reviews recently, you’d have seen other examples of the genre in Ty Oliver and Russ Pettit. “Relentless” is smooth and relaxing or sharp and driven, depending on the track. The recording quality is flawless, the insert and packaging are sharp and pro grade, and although I feel I’m spending too much time reviewing instrumental bands, the talent is deserving. LoNero’s “Relentless” is a great way to escape the noise of daily life and enter a world of musical harmony. Show your support today by checking out myspace.com/LoNero, where the music allows your thoughts to be the lyrics and your life to be the thesis”.
Guitarcore? You have to hear for yourself
Reviewer: WyvernWhen I was in Myspace checking this band that asked me to add them, I was HIGHLY skeptic because of the "core" tag. I have found that usually it leads to bad, bad attempts to make music. Actually I don't know why they chose such a moniker, but I can tell you this: it ROCKS! Think a mixture of Satriani with progressive intrumental approach, the best of both worlds. No boring solos, no complex neoclassical structures, no Paganini syndrome, but one hell of instrumental power. Guitars are dominant of course but in the sense they dominate in classic bands like Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy or Iron Maiden, never trying to be the star at expense of the bass and drums. I'm really glad I purchase this baby, trust me you will be too. A new force to be reckon, LoNero brings the past into the future with style. Highly recommended.
One of the BEST albums
Reviewer: Patty - Austin TexasI FUCKING LOVE YOU GUYS!!! This is one of the BEST albums I've ever heard. Ya'll don't need no stinkin' singer. Shit that rocks that good speaks for itself.
Best Instrumental I Have Ever Heard!!!!!
Reviewer: Eternal Terror WebzineLoNero is from California and play the best instrumental music I have ever heard; It is not just instrumental skills, but also a variety of arrangement and major difference of composition that blows you away after listening to it. Its not just guitar solo after guitar solo on the top of rhythms and sounds- the whole band is equal in the sound picture. On top of it all, even if it is hard rock, the best thing about LoNero is that they display something as noble as feeling and living the music, something that you don't come across a lot in today's rock scene. Guitar players and instrumental players can actually feel how the music blends and separates far beyond our belief and capability to understand. LoNero has really created something new and refreshing, that also the international arena of all types and on all areas are moved by. They are everything you can expect as a guitar enthusiast and music lover. This band will definitely be with me for a long time. Now the bragging is enough and its time to introduce you to the members of this band. on acoustic and electric guitars we have Bill Lonero, on bass and synth is Mike McKaigg, and behind a wall of percussions we catch a glance of Steve Spicer, also with a contribution on synth, Last we have William Baglivio, wait he went to take a leak, but he will be back with rhythm guitar on one track. Guest performers listed are Zack Harrison on additional rhythm guitar on tracks 4 and 11, and Frank Casanova on 2 solo guitar on track 7. Let me say that track 6 is a very nice little piece of harmony and slide guitar done like a connoisseur by Bill Lonero, and in the intro of track 7 it is easy to recognize the sound of Robert Plant, guess what song the radio track is from. Track 12 is the bass maestro's playground and he uses it with heart and soul. Besides track 12 and 14 which are LoNero's version of the traditional "Amazing Graze" Bill Lonero is the leading actor when it comes to composing with contributions from Steve Spicer and Zack Harrison, this makes it easy to know which instrument are used to highlight the melody and separate the melody lines from the rhythmical and progressive lines. And it is with great joy to listen to each instrumentalist getting to use his instrument with room to play in the contributions. When I put the cd on the repeat function is on, and then I just press play and lean back in my soft chair enjoying LoNero, start a new review, yell at the neighbor for driving to fast in the curb or just plain empty my head, LoNero has come up with the concept, produced, illustrated and designed Relentless to perfection. And its recorded by Juan Urteaga at TriDent studio in Pachecho, California. Thank You LoNero.
Barrage of beautiful notes
Reviewer: TomWOW! I mean wow! LoNero have most certainly got the funk! An instrumental band that hit you like a barrage of beautiful notes with dancey rhythms and the most complex solos I've heard and loved... now I'm not a massive fan of guitar wanking but these guys don't wank with their instruments! Like painting a beautiful painting with so many colors bringing in influences from all genres of music and creating a soft complex cushion of sound. Has a sense of Jimi Hendrix acid trip songs and almost just as genius and so many differences in mood. The band is very well knitted together and throws you in to their world and swings you around. Like a little adventure in their songs out of 5 ear friendly: 5 Balls: 3 Production: 5 Bounce: 3 Tune: 5
F@#$ing Bad Ass
Reviewer: ThomasJesus.. You guys are fucking bad ass. I hate 99% of the garbage bands on myspace but you guys are sick. Lots of feeling, great guitar work. I'm pretty impressed. I couldn't stop headbanging haha. I'm already a fan.

Best Instrumental!
Reviewer: Josh WingardBest instrumental rock band in the last 10 years, easy.
Guitarcore to the core
Reviewer: Mike AshleyAt first I was like "What the hell is guitarcore?" then I heard Relentless and was like "WHOA! Now I know". This cd is unlike any instrumental guitar cd out there. It's heavy yet melodic. It's expressive yet at times it's punishing. It's dark yet beautiful. This cd is the bridge between instrumental rock and vocal music. This is definitely the beginning of a new genre.
Missing Void
Reviewer: Jason BaylesNot all rock songs have to have lyrics, Metallica, Megadeth, both have done instramentals, some of the best, and in my opinion not enough of them, LoNero, fills a void missing in rock.... music!
Ready for the airwaves
Reviewer: San Jose MetroBATTLE AXES: Pumping out straight-ahead, all-instrumental rock with the technical precision of a computer engineer whiz on speed, LoNero takes the stage at VooDoo tonight supporting their long-awaited sophomore album, Relentless. Led by one of the best guitarists in the local scene, Bill Lonero, the quartet rips out metal-laced rock anthems that are as polished as anything you're going to find circulated on the airwaves or the well-established arena circuit. If you dig the sounds of Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, but don't feel like kicking down half your paycheck to Ticketmaster to see them live, swing by the VooDoo and check out what this local ax-man and LoNero bring to the amp wars.
Incredible piece of work
Reviewer: Greg NelsonNot only is this cd an incredible piece of work but it has the most beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace I have ever heard!!!
Feel it
Reviewer: Rick BugeraLoNero's music has something you don't hear a lot in today's music...true emotion. You can feel the music as well as hear it. From as soft as a butterfly landing on your hand to as heavy as a sledgehammer slamming you in the face. LoNero makes you feel every single note. The best way to desrcibe it is true musical honesty.
Beautiful work of art
Reviewer: Beth TaylorWhat I dig about LoNero, despite it's just great to listen to and I revel in the way it shapes my mood, what I dig is that all of the instruments are actively a part of everything. It isn't background with a dominant guitar, like wallpaper for the solo. I'm not such a good listener to have the musical finesse to truly appreciate the richness of the sound you create, but I sense enough to know that if I wanted to share a sound with someone who was a true master of rock, I'd let them have a listen to LoNero. On top of which, even though it's hard rock, it's got a positive vibe that emanates from the music emotionally!
Mind Blowing
Reviewer: Michelle - SeattleI love all the Relentless tracks and i love LOOSE the best!
Refreshing
Reviewer: Tim SauersI have to say that it was refreshing to the the music that LoNero has put out. It is everything you could want as a guitar player and music fan. These guys are defintiely going to be in my collection for a long time to come.
Incredible!
Reviewer: Jason NipperThis cd speaks not only to guitar players and instrumental musicians, but ALL musicians and music lovers alike. This is a tightly woven mixture of musical styles all coming together as one well balanced work of art.
